REACTION HELP!! please!

Post by milZ1 »

Hi all,

Anyone know how to balance an equation when we vanadium oxide was added to water, sulfuric acid and ethanol, then it was added to a solution of acetylacetone, water and sodium carbonate to for form the product [VO(acac)2]. acac is acetylacetone (C5H8O2).

Im guessing it's like this, but i've left something out, lol.

V2O5 + H2SO4 + C2H5OH + C5H8O2 .... = [VO(C5H8O2)2]..........

Then we used this product.
[VO(acac2)] added to ethanol and then ammonia, to form the ammonia adduct of [VO(acac2)]. Im assuming it's like this:

[VO(acac)2] + C2H5OH + NH3... = [VO(acac)2NH3].....

It would be greatly appreciated if anyone can help me, thank you!!

Mili.
