Can anyone please help with these problems??
Use 1/2 reaction method to balance...write each 1/2 reaction and indicate substances being oxidized and reduced. (more than 2 substances undergoing electron change).
Fe(CN)6-4 + Ce+4 ---->Ce(OH)3 + Fe(OH)3 + CO3-2 + NO3-1
in base
Cr(NCS)6-4 + Ce+4 ---->Cr+3 + Ce+3 + NO3-1 + CO2 + SO4-2 in acid
Please HELP!!

Code: Select all
CO3{-} and NO3{-}
Code: Select all
CN{-}
Code: Select all
Fe(CN)6{-4} + Ce{+4} + 6OH{-} = Ce(OH)3 + Fe(OH)3 + 6CN{-}
_ oxidation :
Code: Select all
Fe(CN)6{-4} = Fe(OH)3 or Fe{+2} = Fe{+3} + e
Code: Select all
Ce{+4} + e = Ce{+3}
Code: Select all
Cr(NCS)6{-4} + Ce{+4} + 6H{+} = Cr{+3} + Ce{+3} + 6HSCN
_ oxidation :
Code: Select all
Cr{+2} = Cr{+3} + e
Code: Select all
Ce{+4} + e = Ce{+3}
that' s my opinion
