1. NaHSO4 + Al(OH)3 = NaOH + AlSO4 + H2 That is not correct. NaHSO4 + Al(OH)3 = Na2SO4 + Al2(SO4)3 + H2O Use balancer to balance this equation: http://www.webqc.org/balance.php 2. Was it in a acidic environment?
If so, here is what happened:

Code: Select all

2 KMnO4 + 10 FeSO4 + 8 H2SO4 = K2SO4 + 2 MnSO4 + 5 Fe2(SO4)3 + 8 H2O

Re: Equation, please (MoS2 + H2O2)

We test some medical device using MoS2 and H2O2, but something was happened. two chemicals were vigrously reacted with heat, like a hot-spring. and now we got confirmed SO4 on ion chromatography. however, unfortunately, my major is not chemistry, and then i have no idea what the equation is. Please...

Re: Uh...

No, she specifically told us that it is not H2O .... It's confusing... I'm gonna die  I'll insist that it must be H2O, there is absolutely no way H2 could be produced in such a reaction (due to the fact that Cl2 is a strong oxidizing agent). Tell your teacher about this thread(forum) - I am re...

Re: HELP!!

Please help!! I need to balance this chemical equation and I don't have a clue. Could someone balance this and explain it to me? The equation is H2SO4+B(OH)3+B2(SO4)3+H2O Lisa You must have an equality sign in your equation. Here it is balanced: 3 H2SO4 + 2 B(OH)3 = B2(SO4&a...

Re: Balance this redox...Help

KMnO4 + SO2 + H2(SO)4 = Mn(SO)4 + K2(SO)4 + H2(SO)4 First of all do not put parenthesis everywhere. H2(SO)4 is the same as H2S4O4 which is a mistake! It must be H2SO4. Also you should have water on the left: KMnO4 + SO2 + H2O = MnSO4 + K2SO4 + H2SO4 That is balanced without any problem by chemical ...

I'm having some real trouble with a tricky problem on a worksheet we got in my high school Chem class, if anyone could shine some light on my problem, I would be really interested to know how to solve this. :?: The Balancing Calculator on this same site says that some of the chemicals have coeffici...

tropicalwaters wrote:what is the excited electron configuration of a sulfur atom? and how would the orbital diagram look like?
In ground state sulfur has:
1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p4
If you promote an electron to a higher orbital it will give you an excited state, for example:
1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p3 3d1

Thanks by the way.
Yes, that is absolutely impossible.
A simple poof is to look at charges: they have different sign on both sides in original equations. Therefore whatever coefficients you choose charge will not be balanced!

Re: What makes NaNO2 a strong electron acceptor?

Just wondering why sodium nitrite is a stronger electron acceptor than sodium nitrate? When metronidazole is given to treat bacterial infections, it accepts electrons from them and in exchange gives them an oxygen. When you add in sodium nitrite it inhibits the function of metronidazole accepts an ...

In fact it is impossible! Because P is oxidized (P2O3->phosphate) and nothing is reduced!
You either had P2O5 and it turned to a phosphate (e.g. K2HPO4) or
you had P2O3 which turns to a phosphite that is K2HPO3.
Hope that explains this issue.
