Replied this by email before. Providing the reply here for reference: pH solver works by solving a system of equations: equations acid dissociation constants + conservation of atoms + conservation of charge + Kw=[H+][OH-] You can reference it by url, for instance: Vitalii Vanovschi, pH Solver: http:...

Yes, that is definitely true. I guess my point is that it is not the quantum numbers which are not well understood. It is the atomic properties can't be simply explained in terms of quantum numbers alone. One have to apply additional principles such as "Aufbau principle", second periodicit...

Schrödinger equation for a system have multiple solution.
Quantum numbers are a way to enumerate these solutions.
But those quantum numbers to which general chemistry textbooks refer to are taken from a simplified model of hydrogen-like atom, rather than a real atom.

That is pretty amazing indeed! Reading the website I would like to contest the following: quantum numbers n, l, ml and ms , that describe electronic populations of the atoms, are not completely understood in terms of mathematics Quantum numbers are result of an exact solution of the non-relativistic...

Light emitted from atoms correspond to transitions between energy levels an therefore measuring the energy of emitted photons allows one to obtain energy levels.
